Frequently Asked Questions

Straight answers about how we work, what we charge, and what you can expect when you partner with MD Technology Consulting.

Contracts & Pricing

What does a monthly support contract include?
Our monthly contracts cover proactive monitoring of your POS and network, priority response when something goes wrong, and a dedicated point of contact who already knows your setup. We handle routine maintenance, software updates, and troubleshooting so you're not scrambling during a dinner rush. Contracts are tailored to your operation — we'll walk you through exactly what's covered before you sign anything.
What's the difference between a monthly contract and hourly à la carte service?
A monthly contract gives you ongoing coverage, priority response, and a predictable monthly cost — it's the right fit for restaurants that want a technology partner, not just a repair service. Hourly à la carte is ideal if you have a one-time need: a new installation, a specific integration, or a problem you just need fixed. There's no long-term commitment with hourly service, and you only pay for the time we spend.
How much does hourly support cost?
Our hourly rate is $125/hour with no minimum commitment. Monthly support contracts start at $500/month and are scoped to your specific setup and needs. We'll always give you a clear picture of expected costs before any work begins — no surprise invoices.

Response & Support

How fast do you respond when something breaks during service?
For clients on a monthly support contract, our average response time is under one hour. We know that a POS going down mid-service isn't just an inconvenience — it's lost revenue and a bad guest experience. Contract clients receive emergency support during restaurant service hours, including evenings and weekends — because that's when restaurants actually need help. General office hours are Monday–Friday, 8am–6pm CT. We prioritize active-service emergencies and stay reachable by phone, not just a ticket queue.
Do you come on-site, or is everything done remotely?
Both. We provide on-site support throughout Chicago and the northwest suburbs — including Schaumburg, Arlington Heights, Palatine, Hoffman Estates, Des Plaines, and communities throughout Cook, Lake, McHenry, and Kane counties. For restaurants outside our on-site area, we offer full remote support via secure remote access tools. Many issues can be resolved remotely in minutes without waiting for a technician to arrive.
Can you support our restaurant if we're not in the Chicago area?
Yes. While our on-site visits are focused on Chicago and the northwest suburbs, we provide remote support for restaurants anywhere in the United States. Remote support covers POS troubleshooting, software configuration, third-party integrations, and most day-to-day issues. If something truly requires a hands-on visit, we'll be upfront about that.

Services & Capabilities

What third-party integrations do you handle?
We connect POS systems to online ordering platforms (DoorDash, Uber Eats, Grubhub), loyalty and rewards programs, reservation systems like OpenTable and Resy, payroll integrations, and more. If your restaurant relies on a tool that needs to talk to your POS, we can usually make it work — and if we can't, we'll tell you that upfront.
Do you help with new restaurant openings or POS installations?
Absolutely. We work with restaurants from the ground up — selecting the right POS hardware and software, configuring the system for your menu and workflow, setting up your network, and training your staff. Getting the technology right from day one prevents a lot of headaches down the road.
